If you would like to dance around in your home in real time from 11-midnight THIS SATURDAY NIGHT (17th Oct) I have complied an hr of dancing music for Ian Watson’s currently virtual club night HOW DOES IT FEEL TO BE LOVED. Apparently I once made Peter Baynham and Ian Watson laugh at the Phoenix Festival c 1995 by doing something funny with a glow stick. Happy times.

We’re very pleased that we’ll be joined this week by Stewart Lee, who has put together an hour guest DJ set for us. His set will run from 11pm for an hour.
Stewart wrote a few words about his set:
“Ian Watson got in touch, having found a 1992 demo tape of the band I used to play in, sent to him when he was a live promoter at The Pied Bull in Islington, which is now a bank. Did I want it back? Yes. Of course. Those teenage dreams never die. We did the gig with a stand-in bassist, I remember, and played everything too fast. It was our 4th and final show. The headline band were fronted by the woman from Daisy Chainsaw’s sister. I may digitise it, with the others’ permission, and put it on bandcamp, with various caveats.
“Ian asked me to do a danceable playlist. At first I tried to give a good account of myself as a tasteful hipster. Then I tried to theme it – Birmingham, The Big Music etc. Then I just made a list of things I have enjoyed dancing to over the years. I suppose it’s telling that I have obviously rarely been drunk enough, carefree enough, or out late enough to find myself dancing much since Madonna’s Ray of Light was released. I hope you enjoy dancing around to this in your homes, and that one day we will all dance again together in an actual place. I will make a point of doing so. Look after yourselves. I cannot embrace you all.“.
