King Crimson – Larks’ Tongues In Aspic, The Complete Recordings

This thirteen disc, memorabilia crammed, out-take and live show enhanced, fortieth anniversary big box refit of Larks’ Tongues in Aspic scrutinizes King Crimson’s fusion of Dionysian ecstasies and progressive rock’s Apollonian aspirations.
Jamie Muir, a veteran of sixties sessions with free improvisers Evan Parker and Derek Bailey, plays chains, saws and junk, alongside the core band’s fiddly time signatures, string drones, and proto-post punk guitar noise.
The orchestrated chaos evidently softened for the album proper, German TV footage finds Robert Fripp and co foraging frenziedly at rock’s fringes.

"I think describing himself as a comedian is the only funny thing the man has ever said. Don't bother telling me that I don't get it; I don't want it. It's only possible to like right-on, lefty comedians like Stuart Lee if you're a right-on lefty yourself.
