A revival of PEA GREEN BOAT at The Battersea Arts Centre.
This time the poet John Dowie plays the role of Edward Lear when Simon Munnery is unable to attend. The show received good reviews again but is essentially wrong. As a live event it would make either a good book or a nice concept album.

JERRY SPRINGER: THE OPERA opens at the National Theatre, London where it runs until September and is acclaimed as the best piece of theatre for thirty years and stuff like that. Working at the NT, it becomes clear, will be the highpoint of Lee's life and it is all downhill from here.

Lee's 12th appearance at the Glastonbury Festival Comedy Tent, the fourth with the same set, is interrupted by a man with an antique car horn and a man dressed as Jesus, carrying his own cross.

Direct Johnny Vegas in the improvised maxi-short Who's Ready For Ice Cream, filmed in Edinburgh and released on DVD later that year.

JERRY SPRINGER: THE OPERA opens in London's shit West End. A lavish opening night party, attended by various meaningless twats from the world of light entertainment, is a barometer of the groundbreaking show's journey from fringe phenomenon to mainstream acceptance and prohibitively high ticket prices. S Lee, despite his fears, is now a fully paid up member of the kingdom of Music Theatre, from which there is no escape.
