Stewart Lee & A Kangaroo

March 1997 - Stew and Rich perform at the Adelaide comedy festival in Australia.

March 1997 - Stewart touches a kangaroo's face at Kangaroo Island, during a day out from the 1997 Adelaide comedy festival.

1997 - Stewart and Richard Herring hosted the first series of FESTIVAL OF FUN, a cheap collection of old clips which they interrupt in a sarcastic way, from The Montreal Comedy Festival.

May 1997 - Stewart worked as Script Editor on 1st of 3 series of HARRY HILL (C4), forging a working relationship which flourishes until the show is cancelled in 1999 by C4 controller Kevin Lygo, despite good viewing figures and reviews.

Montreal Comedy Festival
July 1997 - LEFT: Stew onstage at Montreal Comedy festival during the gig that led to 'unprecedented industry interest', three futile years of Trans-Atlantic trips, a non-broadcast pilot script, endless offers to audition for inappropriate parts as a visiting English 'fish out of water', and free passes to Universal Studios Theme Park. Cool!

King Dong vs Moby Dick

1997 Stewart performed 26 five-minute slots on Channel 5's COMEDY NETWORK, which stand as a monument to his youthful greatness. Ex-Tinky Winky star Dave Thompson is rumoured to be obsessed with them. The series was broadcast on Channel 5 and is in an eternal late night cable TV repeat loop that renders it tediously over-familiar.

August 1997 King Dong vs Moby Dick. Stew's absurdly expensive attempt to conjure the spirit of the white whale also featured the debut Edinburgh appearance from the Mighty Boosh.
