A MAN consistently lauded as one of the country's sharpest stand-up comedians is going back on the road.

Stewart Lee is returning to venues across the UK with his new stand-up show, after receiving rave reviews on tour last year.

Earlier this year, Lee filmed his first TV series for almost a decade, Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle, for BBC2.

In 2002, he hit the headlines after writing and directing the hit, but also controversial show Jerry Springer The Opera.

The show won four Olivier awards after its run in the West End.

During the course of his comedy career, Lee has also worked with the likes of Steve Coogan, Chris Morris, and The Mighty Boosh.

He also co-created four series of comedy shows for BBC2 along with partner in crime Richard Herring.

Ricky Gervais once described Lee as "the funniest, most cliche-free comedian on the circuit."

Stewart Lee is coming to The Capitol, in Horsham, on Friday October 30, from 8pm.
