41ST BEST STAND-UP EVER DVD
I will be recording a live DVD of the new show at The Stand, Glasgow, April 7th, 8pm and 10pm. £10 I think. Official Glasgow Stand web site Box office: 0870 600 6055
2) 41st BEST STAND-UP EVER, CHORTLE AWARD The new show won the Chortle award for best stand-up show of 2007 in February, so I would like to thank anyone that voted for it. It was picked up for me by ITV’s Richard Herring and I can barely walk at the moment and have to have a stool on stage like some kind of Ronnie Corbett character.
3) 41ST BEST STAND-UP EVER TOURING The endless tour continues to bizarrely varied audience sizes and standing ovations mixed with blind fury from people who loathe it on the Chortle comments board. |

THE TEN BEST STAND-UPS IN THE WORLD EVER "A PERSONAL MESSAGE FROM STEWART LEE, 41ST BEST STAND UP EVER. Last year Channel 4 astounded comedians and comedy fans with the show The 100 Best Stand-Ups, a definitive list of the official best comedians of all time. I arrived at a pleasing number 41. But was the list really definitive? Apparently it was based on comedy industry insiders' advice, critical acclaim, and public votes on a shortlist of 150 pre-selected acts. Now, I am a comedy industry insider, member of the public and critic, writing for The Sunday Times, Wire, Bucketful Of Brains and Good Housekeeping amongst others. And so I have arrived at my own definitive list of the best ten stand-ups of all time, based on my insider knowledge and a secret ballot of myself conducted by me. Over half of the acts finally selected weren't even in the stupid Channel 4 short list of 150. Some I wanted to include were either unavailable (Daniel Kitson) or unwilling to participate in what seemed to them to be a self-aggrandising and dishonest conceit (Jerry Sadowitz). But basically, this is as near as dammit to the five shows I'd like to see most if I were told I could only ever see five more stand-up shows in my life, for some reason. And remember, I know more about this subject than you, probably. Some of the acts in the season are so brilliant their genius has prevented them from becoming household names. One is so famous he or she cannot even be named, like some kind of Old Testament deity, or government assassin. I'm going to be do 20-30 mins of material that's brand new or so old it seems new each week too. And there's a special deal if you book for 4 of the 5 shows. This will be the best season of stand-up anywhere ever. And yes, I know there are no Americans." |

My play-thing Johnson and Boswell Late But Live was a hit at the Traverse Edinblur in August and will be doing a big Scotch tour in 2008. Everyone who worked on it was ace. Here’s dates for 2008 so far, with Miles Jupp and Simon Munnery both reprising their acclaimed Edinburgh Fringe roles, and director Owen Lewis and piper Neil Maclure both back on board too.

Thanks to everyone that came to the recording of the BBC2 pilot Stewart Lee’s Comedy Vehicle. Everything went really well on the following 2 days’ filming too, and the series will supposedly be filmed early 2009.
