Precious Jules - Precious Jules - Agitated - AGIT01 CD
In 1978 Kim Salmon split Perth's Cheap Nasties for The Scientists and invented grunge. As recently as 2007, his archly lumpy Rock Formations album offered a constructivist critique of The Riff.
His new duo Precious Jules suggest a dirty minimalist reading of The New York Dolls' camp cavemen aesthetic, until Shine Some Darkness On Me licks at the blues, The Urban Swamp posits new wave noir, and Seein' Spots disco lights a Stonesy stomp.
Lest things get too sophisticated, a reading of The Nasties' Cheap ‘n' Nasty hoiks something slimy into the chardonnay.
