Harry Deerness - Harry Deerness - Spillage Fete records - 2
Harry Deerness' debut was handed to me anonymously in a Kings Cross pub. On-line
information says it's one Kevin Cormack, sampling cassettes of home recordings
given to him in Orkney by a professional carer, who found them in the home of
her client, Harry Deerness.
The album sounds like an old people's home entertainer
playing Stockhausen, equipped with only a Casio organ, a clarinet, an accordion,
and some noises taped out of the window. It's a fun curio, but the likes of
Loren Connors (
see here) are real
outsider artists, and Deerworth is a knowing construct.
